Amberley Village has awarded a new contract for emergency medical services to Reading after nearly 40 years with Deer Park-Silverton and Little Miami (formerly Golf Manor).

Amberley Village Police-Fire Chief Richard Wallace stated the decision, while extremely difficult, was made in the best interest of serving Amberley Village residents.

“EMS service costs have increased everywhere, but when this year’s proposal came in at over a 60% increase, we felt it prudent to be good stewards of our residents’ tax dollars” said Wallace. “Reading has an excellent reputation for its fire and EMS services, which we look forward to introducing to our community.”

Amberley Village Police-Fire will continue to be first at the scene as it always has, and there is no significant change in response times anticipated. In addition, Reading typically dispatches a greater number of personnel to critical calls, which increases the potential for positive outcomes.

Reading began providing EMS services on January 1, 2020.
