AMBERLEY BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE MEETING SUMMARY

A. Welcome

B. ReLeaf—Ed Hattenbach compiled order a. Explore possibility of Amberley having own tree sale program next year—Ed H. & Billie D.

C. Fall Lecture: Dave Stang, Certified Tree Care—November 14, 7:30-9
a. Refreshments: coffee, cider, cookies—
i. Jim Kelly: to get food items
ii. Bernie: coffee & supplies (cups, napkins, accompaniments)
b. Publicity: on website & in newsletter

D. Tree Preservation Inventory:
a. Jane Murphy & Pam Hessler will look over documents from other communities to see how they encourage preservation of significant trees on private property
b. Also consider importance to keep trees on hillsides and along streams

E. TCUSA Recertification Application & Growth Award
a. Bernie distributed copies of application forms for review
b. Applications are to be submitted to Wendi by 12/7/07, not date on application

F. Beautification Awards
a. Regina met with Judge Sharon Floro who suggested next year awards distinguish between professional & non-professional landscape designs
b. Letter going out to previous members re: sign collection

G. Rain Garden:
a. Set up meeting with others to start to work on AV rain garden
b. Put information on website

H. Village Grounds Master Plan:
a. Look at areas to rework/restore/improve
b. Rain garden-impact project—put info on website
c. Infill trees—can always do
d. Look at property line along Dena Lane for brush management
e. Don’t loose site of original gardens at Section/Gaibraith & Ridge—look at plant replacements
f. AV gateways need work, especially at RR Hwy. with JCC—Bernie had earlier discussion with JCC to work together
g. Consistency & rebranding—revisit Blue Ash & Montgomery photos
h. Analysis of concrete slab plan to make doable—Sharon?

I. Other: Josephine’s ideas for Arbor Day “door prizes” –gator bags, protective tree ring, hi quality loppers, soaker hose, velco pruner—available for AV residents only
