AMBERLEY BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE MEETING SUMMARY
MEETING DATE: March 31, 2008
7:30-9:00 PM; Amberley Village Community Room
PRESENT: Merrie Stillpass; Bernie Boraten; Jim Kelly; Jane Murphy; Pam Hessler; Steve Rasfeld; Scott Heizman; Wes Brown; Tom Karr; Elaine & Albert Tomasi; Leslie McIntosh; Cynthia Goodman; Josephine Rosenblum
DISCUSSION:
1. Beautification Awards
· Pam will help Regina with same task as last year
· Sharon Floro & Regina are revising the awards categories. The information will be in May newsletter.
2. Arbor Day/Green-Up Day celebration 2008 in Amberley will be MAY 4 (Actual OH date 4/25)
· Move tree planting demonstration to October—better time; coincide with ReLeaf tree distribution
· Other discussion with Parks: possible removal of rusty old fence posts in r.o.w. is not a good idea.; fallen trees in fence line along park edges parallel to Ridge Road. Is there a “balance” what looks good vs. good for habitat? Wes walked the Park/Village ROW property lines identifying over 30 tress on both AV & Park properties they will jointly remove over the next several weeks.
· Talk with Jennifer re: honeysuckle & fence
3. Rain Garden: Mini-Grant due 4/11. Steve met with Terra (Mill Creek Watershed District) and discussed additional ideas for the application.
4. Village Grounds Master Plan: New co-op student Jason Gibbs will be able to assist AVBC on concept plans for the Village Hall grounds

NEXT STEPS:
Village Hall & Grounds: Master Plan & garden aspects; design rain barrel garden set up special meeting date
Meetings: Bernie set-up meeting with key people for JCC gateway area
Research: review tree protection initiative-pass resolution at council level; conversation with Parks (see above)
Update: tree inventory worksheets—Tom/Staff
