b. Volunteers: schedule will be sent out to Leslie, Scott, Albert & Elaine Tomasi, Regina, Jim. More volunteers needed welcome!

c. AVBC table will have the following information on hand: information sign-up (general AVBC, ReLeaf 2008, VIGC); Heritage Tree Program; EAB info; Rain Barrel garden; Beautification Awards—past winners poster & 2008 nominees-

3. Presentation/Discussion:
a. Merrie gave a brief overview of the LRPC work that led to the 4 Pillars of the LRPC work: economy-environment-community-identity

b. Meisner + Associates/LandVision (M+A) have been hired by AV to look gateways, connectivity and green infrastructure as a foundation for decision making to future enhance the environment, livability, character and identity of the Village.

c. M+A shared inventory analysis maps showing slopes, watershed issues, soils, flooding and opportunity & problem areas; Existing land use & zoning; gateways & crossroads, and scenic corridors

d. Definitions: Large Scale—a system of connected green spaces; Large Scale—Methods used in implementation or elements utilized to measure and or improve environmental well being.

e. Scope of work: big picture à details. Connectivity is a big part of green infrastructure study. Storm water problems can be moderated with green infrastructure. Also includes gateways, paths/trails and storm water
i. alignment with other initiatives: i.e. MSD has green infrastructure plan for district
ii. More thought, more livable & safe

f. Discussions touched on the following:
i. Natural environment to connect to manmade attractions—what & where do people want to connect to both inside & at the edges of AV. Destinations become determinants of what to connect; resources
ii. Green resources make up the character of AV—both public & private
iii. Classification of what we see as visual resources change over time, erode.
iv. Corridors are strong determinates of AV character. Cross-sections show “view shed” (predominate visual of what you see) along points on roads
v. Connectivity to Pleasant Ridge School—how many families/kids will attend? Get info
1. Other places to connect: Dillonvale, JCC, North Site, N. Gateway (potential bridge widening?) Pleasant Ridge Library; KI, other intuitions members live all over region
2. Design of path: meandering of landscape path (like Winton Rd.) look at materials & costs, stamped concrete
vi. Gateways & cross-roads interface connectivity
1. Gateways may have special treatment i.e. honeysuckle management, common signage & plant material, reduced signs….
2. Ridge & Section = heart of village
3. help establish hierarchy, identity, reinforce prestige, next generation of signage, maintenance
4. Traffic counts?

6. what about channel lighting, use of trellis or fence
7. create standards
