Amberley Village Council
Public Outreach Committee
Meeting Minutes
July 9, 2007

In attendance:  Peg Conway (chair), Tim Carter, Fran Cohen, Jack Monahan, Rich Wallace, Chuck Kamine, Bernie Boraten

Follow-up on self-defense course idea
Rich Wallace had contacted the Gardeners/Survive Institute and identified several dates.  They recommended two sessions.  It was decided to do one for adults and one for children (age 12 and under).  The committee decided to go with October dates so as not to conflict with Jewish holidays.  The cost will be $5/person.  Sign-ups will be available at the ice cream social.

Follow-up on newsletter printing
Due to the willingness of our current printer to meet the other company’s price and timing commitment, we will stay with Relevant Works for now.

Approval processes
The Committee held an extensive discussion of how best to administer the three primary communication vehicles available:  newsletter, website and Community Safe phone system, considering what types of content are appropriate and how content should be generated and approved for publication.  The Committee’s recommendations were compiled into two documents, Resolution 2007-14, Resolution to Establish An Editorial Approval Process for the Village Website, Newsletter and Community Safe Program and Resolution 2007-15, Resolution to Establish Publication Policies for the Amberley Village Website and Newsletter.  These were submitted and approved at the July 16, 2007, Amberley Council meeting.
