How the Village Was Named

Herbert French, Vice President of the Procter & Gamble Company, was a founding resident who lived on 300 acres called Reachmont Farm at what is now Ridge and Section Roads. He donated the land upon which Village Hall is located, and to him was extended the honor of selecting the name of the village. Mr. French had visited England and traveled through the English countryside on many occasions. Because the new village had many of the same characteristics, he selected the name of the English town, Amberley, as the name of the new village in Hamilton County, Ohio.
