Finance Committee

Members:  Jon Chaiken, Louis Katz

The primary function of the Amberley Village Finance Committee is to set priorities for the annual budget and to submit a budget to the broader Council for review.

The Committee consists of three Council members and meets on an as needed basis.

The budget setting process has two phases. The county requires every municipality to submit a budget in late July for the next calendar year. This is to ensure that the community has a budget that will allow it to remain solvent. The Finance Committee works with the village staff in June to prepare a budget for Council approval at the July meeting. The second phase of the budgeting process occurs at the end of the calendar year. At the December meeting the Finance Committee presents to Council a final budget for the year. This final budget updates the one approved in July to reflect a better understanding of the actual expenses and revenue from the current year and any other changes in approach to the budget.

The Finance Committee also is responsible for providing oversight to the Village staff on investments as well as monthly tracking of revenues and expenditures.
