a. AVBC Awards: great success!
b. Put sticker/sign on back side of yard, sign that it is property of AV; to be returned
c. Address signs: Boy Scout Patrick Driscoll approached the AVBC to see if he can coordinate sale & installation for his Eagle Scout requirements. Several residents expressed interest in having sign
d. EAB Sample: Wendi gave us the sample to keep. Will be available for viewing in Admin office.
C. Releaf—program is back thanks to Duke Energy sponsorship. Parks is trying to finalize plant selection & prices for: swamp white oak, serviceberry, either zelkova or linden, & spruce species to be determined.
a. Once info is made available prices, selection, etc. will be made available thru email list, website & possibly signs
D. Rain Garden: a meeting is to be scheduled Set up meeting with Jeanette, Tom, Ed, Matt, Jim & others to discuss mapping and design. More volunteers needed.
E. Fall Lecture: Dave Stang, Certified Tree Care—November 14, 7:30-9
a. Potential topics might include:
i. Necessity for biodiversity
ii. Care of trees after drought
iii. Pruning young trees
iv. Top 10 things average citizens need to know
F. AVBC Board Composition: Jim Kelly agreed to join the board. Merrie will stagger the terms & circulate the responsibilities & term exportation dates for board approval. There is 1 vacancy to be filled.
G. Village Grounds:
a. Reviewed locations of 7 trees to be removed. Jeanette will look at planting options to present to AVBC, possibly use Releaf trees
b. Discussion re: bad conditions of the plantings at Ridge/Galbraith & Ridge/Section, also the streetscape trees along Ridge were not watered & appear to be dying. Lack of maintenance around track plantings
H. Garden Tour of AVBC Award winners? possibly early summer 2008. Josephine & Informal group may undertake????
