These volunteers have their safety vests on and are ready to go out and walk the streets. They cataloged all of the trees in the Village right-of-ways.

These volunteers were part of the Amberley Village Beautification Committee, and were getting ready to perform a Tree Inventory of our street trees. Street trees are those that can be found along the sides of the roads within the Village public right-of-ways.  The volunteers recorded information such as tree size, condition, and species. This information will eventually be entered into a database.

Our street trees benefit our community in many ways.  The shelter given by trees provides greater energy savings and pollution reduction, while the roots reduce storm water runoff.  And beyond being beautiful, trees are a tremendous part of our community identity.  Amberley wants to optimize this important resource, and the Tree Inventory is an important step. 

At a training seminar on May 13, 2006, conducted by Wendi Van Buren of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, volunteers learned survey techniques and tree identification to prepare them for the following Saturday's work.
