Highly-skilled and trained Amberley Village employees answer our 911 calls.

The Amberley Village Police and Fire Department operates an Enhanced 911 System. This means that all 911 calls made from a location in Amberley are answered by Village dispatchers.   Many times, callers know the officer or dispatcher who answers the phone, and are reassured by this familiarity.

Wireless (cell phone) 911 calls made in Amberley Village, and some areas around the Village, are answered by Amberley dispatchers.   Any 911 calls that request assistance outside Amberley Village are then transferred to the proper jurisdiction.

Amberley Village has four civilian dispatchers, and they are trained in many areas.   Each dispatcher attends a 40-hour Basic Telecommunications class, a 24-hour Emergency Medical Dispatch class, CPR classes and in-service training.   All police officers are also trained as 911 dispatchers.

The dispatchers working in the Amberley Village 911 center answer numerous phone calls each year. These calls are both 911 calls and other non-emergency miscellaneous calls.   In 2006, Amberley Dispatchers answered 8,152 calls on the 911 lines.   This figure includes wireless and landline calls.
